How to add a WhatsApp chat button

A WhatsApp button lets customers start a conversation with one tap — no form, no waiting for email. It floats on every page of your site and is one of the highest-converting contact methods for local businesses.

WhatsApp chat button requires the Core plan or higher.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Upgrade to Core or Pro

The WhatsApp chat button is included in Core and Pro plans. From your dashboard, go to Settings → Plan to upgrade.

  2. 2

Go to Settings → WhatsApp button

Open your site in the dashboard and click 'Settings' in the left sidebar. Select 'WhatsApp button' from the settings menu.

  3. 3

    Enter your WhatsApp phone number

Type your WhatsApp number in international format — include your country code but no spaces, dashes, or brackets. For example: 14155552671 for a US number, or 447911123456 for a UK number.

  4. 4

    (Optional) Add a pre-filled message

You can add a default message that appears in the customer's WhatsApp chat box when they tap your button. Something like 'Hi, I found you on your website and I'd like to book an appointment' saves your customers time and gives you context for the conversation.

  5. 5

    Save and publish

Click 'Save' then publish your site. The WhatsApp button will appear as a floating green chat icon in the bottom-right corner of every page of your website.

Tips & best practices

  • Use a dedicated WhatsApp Business account if you get a lot of messages — it lets you set an away message, quick replies, and a business profile.
  • The pre-filled message works best when it mentions the context: 'Hi, I saw your website and want to...' helps you know they came from the site.
  • Test the button on mobile after publishing — tap it yourself to make sure it opens WhatsApp correctly with the right number.

Common questions

Does the customer need WhatsApp installed?

+

Yes. When a customer taps the button, it opens WhatsApp (or the WhatsApp web if they're on a desktop). If they don't have WhatsApp, they won't be able to use the button. Consider keeping your contact form active as a fallback.

Can I use a WhatsApp Business number?

+

Yes. Enter the WhatsApp Business number the same way — in international format without spaces. WhatsApp Business numbers work exactly the same way as personal numbers.

Can I change or remove the button later?

+

Yes. Go to Settings → WhatsApp button at any time to update your number, change the pre-filled message, or remove the button entirely.
