How to manage your contact form

Every Artefact site includes a contact form. Here's how to manage incoming enquiries, turn on email notifications, and get the most out of it.

Contact form is available on all plans. Email notifications require Core or higher.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Your contact form is already live

Artefact adds a contact section to every generated website automatically. When a visitor submits the form, their message is stored in your dashboard and (on Core+) emailed to you.

  2. 2

View form submissions in the dashboard

Go to your site dashboard and click 'Forms' in the left sidebar. You'll see all incoming submissions with the sender's name, email, and message. Click any submission to read it in full.

  3. 3

    Enable email notifications (Core+)

On Core and Pro plans, go to Settings → Notifications and enter the email address where you want form submissions sent. You'll receive an email each time someone submits your contact form.

  4. 4

Customise the form fields with AI

Want to change what the form asks? Use the AI editor: 'Add a field asking for the customer's preferred appointment date' or 'Remove the phone number field from the contact form'. The form updates automatically.

  5. 5

    Reply to enquiries

Click any submission in the Forms inbox to see the sender's email address. Reply directly from your email client — Artefact doesn't have a built-in reply feature, but every submission includes the sender's email.

Tips & best practices

  • Keep your form short — name, email, and message is enough for most businesses. Every extra field reduces completions.
  • Add a confirmation message to let customers know their message was received: ask the AI to 'Update the contact form confirmation to say We'll get back to you within 24 hours'.
  • Check your Forms inbox at least weekly. If you're on Core+, email notifications mean you'll never miss an enquiry.

Common questions

Does the contact form have spam protection?

+

Yes. All Artefact contact forms include spam filtering. Low-quality bot submissions are automatically blocked before they reach your inbox.

Can I export my form submissions?

+

Yes. In the Forms inbox, click 'Export' to download all submissions as a CSV file.

Can I have multiple contact forms on one site?

+

You can have one contact form per site. On Pro, you can use the booking widget as an additional point of contact.

My contact form isn't on my site — how do I add it?

+

Use the AI editor: 'Add a contact section to the bottom of the page'. Or ask: 'Add a contact form with fields for name, email, and message'. It will be added and included in your Forms inbox.
