How to collect customer reviews

Social proof is one of the most powerful tools for converting visitors into customers. Here's how to add a testimonials section to your site and set up a steady stream of new reviews.

Testimonials section is available on all plans. Review widget requires Pro.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Add a testimonials section to your site

In the AI editor, type: 'Add a testimonials section with three customer reviews'. Provide the actual reviews if you have them, or let the AI generate placeholder examples you can replace. Replace placeholders with real quotes as soon as you have them.

  2. 2

    Add real customer quotes

Once you have real reviews, update your testimonials section: 'Update the testimonials section with these three quotes: [quote 1], [quote 2], [quote 3]'. Use first names and details where the customer has consented.

  3. 3

    Add a Google review link

Get your Google review link from Google Business Profile → Get more reviews. Ask the AI to 'Add a button in the testimonials section that says Leave us a review on Google, linking to [your Google review link]'. This makes it easy for happy customers to leave a review.

  4. 4

    (Pro) Add the review widget

Pro users can add a live-updating review widget that pulls in your Google or Facebook reviews automatically. Go to Settings → Widgets → Reviews and connect your Google Business account. The widget updates in real time as new reviews come in.

  5. 5

Ask for reviews at the right moment

The best time to ask is immediately after a positive experience. Add a line to your post-service message or receipt: 'If you're happy with the service, we'd really appreciate a quick Google review — it takes 30 seconds and helps us a lot.' Include your Google review link.

Tips & best practices

  • Never incentivise reviews — Google's guidelines prohibit offering discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews. Just ask genuinely.
  • Respond to all reviews, positive and negative. Businesses that respond to reviews rank higher and convert better.
  • A specific, detailed review ('Alex was on time, gentle with my nervous dog, and my German Shepherd had never looked better') is far more persuasive than 'Great service!'.

Common questions

Can I put reviews from Google directly on my site?

+

Yes, with the Pro review widget. It pulls in your Google Business reviews automatically. On free and Core plans, you can manually add quotes from any review source to your testimonials section.

What if I get a bad review?

+

Respond professionally and offer to resolve the issue offline. One negative review among many positives rarely hurts — in fact, it makes your reviews look more authentic. Never ask Google to remove a legitimate negative review.

How many reviews do I need before adding a testimonials section?

+

Start with 2–3 reviews from happy customers you can ask directly. Even one strong testimonial is better than no social proof.
